Monster Hunt is a brilliant game - we found it hidden in the back of Dave & Busters' Providence location and got hooked on it quickly. Skee Ball (Round 1 has the "Ice Ball" version, and just two 'lanes'). The game wasn't nearly as exciting, and each play lasted about 30 seconds. Today at Round 1, we played it for about three minutes and were done. Seriously, we can waste 20-30 minutes at Dave & Buster's playing Harpoon Lagoon, and we have a blast. With just 5 tries offered at Round 1, not only do you get a shorter game, you also win fewer tickets. We love this game at Dave & Buster's, and after playing it once at Round 1 I know exactly why it's better at Dave & Buster's: Dave & Buster's gives you ten tries (according to the game maker, the game can be set to offer as few as 1 and as many as 25 tries per play). and you get five tries to catch something. Harpoon Lagoon (a video fish-catching game that rewards you with tickets) costs 6 credits at Round 1. (I've heard that there are vending machines that also sell the cards, but I couldn't find them - again, better signage is needed). I had to wait in a line about 6 people deep to buy the card - not bad, but this should be more efficient. In short, you're paying anywhere from 75 cents to $1.50 per game. that works out to about 19 cents per credit, and most games at Round 1 are 4, 6 or 8 credits. To play, I bought a regular "red" Round 1 card (they charge $1 for the card) and paid $50 for 260 credits. Ours are Harpoon Lagoon, Skee Ball and Monster Hunt, so I'll use these to illustrate why Round 1 deserves this one-star review. The selection of non-claw games is superb there are probably 150 to 200 of them, but who's counting? The game floor is monstrous, and if you've been to a Dave & Buster's then you'll recognize some of your favorites. Each claw game also has a photo attached to it, with a helpful tip about what prize is easiest to get.

They're just beyond the entrance, they're near the prize room, and they're right next to the line to buy a game card. They're in the hall inside the mall, leading to the interior Round 1 entrance. The first thing you notice about Round 1's arcade are the ridiculous number of claw games.
The bad: I'm not even sure where to start, but I'll try. The good part about the arcade: Tons of games. Note to management: invest in some additional signage and maybe a security guard at the exterior entrance - there's nothing stopping people from taking their alcohol outside, or bringing their own drinks inside.

If you come in via their exterior mall entrance near the movie theater, you basically walk into a sea of video games. This review will focus specifically on the arcade at Round 1 - there was a two-hour wait for bowling despite some of the lanes being empty, and I'm not sure where the snack bar (or adult bar) are located. It's obvious that they chose Taunton because of its proximity to two D&B locations, and they probably got a great deal on the lease (the Silver City Galleria is really trying hard to survive). This is Round 1's first location in the eastern part of the United States. We live here in Taunton and frequently drive to Dave & Buster's in Providence - it's a great experience, so I figured that we'd enjoy this relatively similar food/fun/arcade concept as well.
